Hi all, I'm new to the site but I'd like your inputs on an issue of mine. I have a 2013 Suzuki Jimny Sierra (JB23) and I recently got it back from periodic maintenance from the official Suzuki service center I go to. My contact at the service center told me that the Suzuki mechanics noticed that there seems to be a small leak in the gearcase (picture attached in this post). According to them, the leak is not detrimental as of the moment, but it may worsen and the eventual solution would be to replace it. The only problem with this solution is that it's quite costly, as my contact quoted me a price of GB£1413.94 (roughly converted from my home currency since this appears to be a British site) for the part alone (still waiting for a full quote that includes labor and other factors). Additionally, this would be considered a "back order" for them, which means they will have to contact Suzuki's main headquarters in Shizuoka, Japan to request a replacement gearcase as it's a part that's not readily available, so it will take a lot of time (I've already done this before with them as I've had to replace my brake disc due to a braking issue that was caught early).

I'd just like to ask if there are any alternate solutions to my problem. I'm open to fixes that I can do on my own or finding places that sell replacement gearcases at a cheaper price. I'd also be happy if I could find maybe a part number for the gearcase so that my search gets a bit easier.

Thanks in advance!

Hi.
Possibly something google translate here or?

This is a picture of the Steering box I think.
The part shown is the adjusting screw.
Is it loose?
The part shown can be dismantled by the four screws in the picture, put on sealing compound like RTV silicone and also the adjusting screws can be removed from said housing to put something sealing compund like loctite thread sealant on the threads.

No decent garage should have any problem whatsoever to fix this in less than an hour with sealing compound for 5 euro.

This is so outrageuos I am trying to think if something is lost in translation here.
I see my browser close the window with the picture if i try to open it, and this text in the post, could it be AI generated?
Is there something "wrong" here?

Please have me excused as english is my third language if I have misinterpreted the situation.

I don't know the set-up in the engine bay of a Gen.3. but that does look like the top of a steering box in which case I agree with yakuza. Another case of blatant rip off by the very people that non mechanically minded customers are meant to trust.
I would douse the area in Gunk - or similar - wash off and then follow yakuza's advice.
Oh, and find someone else to service  your Jimny.
