Head Gasket was created by Sy
Hello. Ive got a 2008 Jimny on 148000. Suspect my head gasket has gone and wondering if anyone can confirm this please. Started having coolant leaks.
First on the throttle body metal pipe and then a week later the same on the thermostat housing. Today the radiator drain plug appears to have blown out and leaked all the coolant.

The coolant reservoir level increases and doesn't go back down when cold and the old coolant was thick and an orange colour. There's no smoke from the exhaust and the oil looks normal.
Is this likely to pressure created by leaking exhaust gases to the coolant?

Thanks.

Sy

Welcome to the forum. Short answer, yes.

With an m13 once it does get hot hot it will have eaten its head gasket, it's just one of those engines when it's fine it's fine but as soon as it's not fine you're done.

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the quick response.
Is it just a case of a new gasket or is skimming the head essential?

Anytime you have an aluminium alloy engine apart, the head AND block should be checked, I'm not saying skimmed, but at the very least, checked to ensure that a skim is not required.

When mine went it needed less than 2 thousandths off. My mates sons needs 8 on the head and 2 on the block aka a new motor.
