I was looking to replace the hands free kit in my 2011 Jimny and have been told it’s cheaper to fit a new radio with Bluetooth etc.
Has anyone done this and your suggestions please.

I fitted an Android double DIN touch screen to my 2011 Jimny, that had quite a good Bluetooth hands free built in.
Or you can go single DIN stereo with Bluetooth, I have a one in the loft that I had on my other car until 4 years ago (Panasonic, Sony, Pioneer, I have forgotten which) that had hands free, DAB and iPod interface.

I don't find Bluetooth calling to be the be all and end all it's claimed to be. I just have my phone in a holder next to the stereo and use the speaker call function, works just as well though I hunt down squeaky clattering noises in my jimny so the phone speaker doesn't need to compete with the car too much.

Having now worked out (google) what double/single din means, I think I will go with double din and hopefully one who’s Bluetooth works.
Thanks bryn

My suggestion would be to look for an online retailer in your country and browse their selection - the unit you choose needs to be compliant with the broadcast standards where it's going to be used.
The other reason for this suggestion is that you know what features are important to you - BlueTooth handsfree is now a standard offering, do you want/need a built-in navigation system or will you use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, do you need them wireless or are you happy plugging the phone in for navigation. Do you need a unit that can work with steering wheel controls?
Last - installation - is that something you can do yourself or do you need to get it from an outfit that will handle the installation
