I have a grumbling noise coming from the front RHS wheel, that I'm thinking is a failed wheel bearing.
It became noticable, but only mildly, a couple of weeks ago. It is gradually getting noisier and does increase with road speed.
Gearbox has recently been rebuilt and its definitely not that.
Transfer box is also working as it should.
Been using the car for work, so have only just got chance to get it jacked up.
There's a very pronounced side to side wobble, on the drivers side wheel, and while looking underneath, there is oil leaking around the swivel joint.
So...
Am I looking a a wheel bearing replacement, or is this something else entirely?
Thanks very much in advance
Rob

Does the wheel grumble when you turn it off the ground?
Oil leaking can be a sign the axle oil seal is failing, and king pin bearings may need replacing.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

The kingpin (swivel) bearings have gone, they always go and cause the oilseal in the end of the axle tube to leak.
The wheelbearing might be gone as well.
If the wheelbearings have gone then when someone holds their foot on the brake, the play at the front wheel will get less.
Another way to tell is if the first press of the brake pedal after driving for a while goes down much further than subsequent ones, as the play in the wheel bearing wobbles the brake pads further apart as it goes along.
They are easy enough to change if you have the tool to undo the nut and some way to press the bearing out & in.

Thanks chaps
Looks like the wheel bearing, axle oil seal and possibly kingpin bearings then
Wheel does grumble when turned while jacked off the ground
Any ideas at a garage price to do this lot?
Cheers

New bearing fitted yesterday and all back to normal.
Thanks again, to Martin at Bigjimny shop, for getting the parts out super quick.
No wobble at all on the steering
