Questions about fitting Manual Hubs

Hi All,

I have received my manual hubs to install on my 03 Jimny.
  • Does the car need to be jacked up for me to install them?
  • Do I need to fill the new hubs with grease before installing?
  • After installing and fooling the 4x4 light, do I use the 4WD shifter as normal after engaging the hubs manually?
Any tips, much appreciated!
Cerys

No need to jack up leave wheels on just bolt on
No grease needed
Just turn to 4x4 and select 4wd when needed
4x2 for normal road use
Only other tip is fill the little bolt heads with grease waterproof is better
You will have no trouble removing later

I leave my manual hubs in 2WD for most of the time, but if going off-road or if there is snow/ice, switch them in to 4WD. I then select 2WD/4WD using the in car selector.

The only downside, is when in 4WD and you don't need it you are turning the drive shafts/front hub when you don't need to do, but it doesn't cause any real problems.

I set up my LC to have solid drive flanges so that a switch on the dash engaged 4 wheel drive and enabled me to negotiate any hazards without having to get out and engage hubs. Also, after 125,000 miles there was no noticeable extra wear or lower mpg.
