I’ve recently had an issue with my gen 3 Jimny not going into 4wd low, mine has the electronic buttons. Goes into 4wd no issues. I finally got around to getting it on the ramp today at work. I’ve discovered the wires are broken going into one of the sensor. After some googling I think it is the Reducer Sensor (part no. 37680-76J01). Can anyone confirm if this is correct? I’ve attached a picture showing which sensor it is. It’s the sensor towards the rear of the transfer box.

It is possible to chip away the araldite and re soldier

They are transfer box solenoid switches. Not sure exactly what they do other than to say 4x4 won’t work without them. I’ve changed them several times over the years and by the look of your one it will have to be replaced. Soldering etc never seems to work.
Although they look the same they have different part numbers so be sure which one needs ordering. And when you do change it be careful as there’s a loose ball baring inside the threaded recess the switch screws into which is very necessary.

There are no hydraulics so they are just switches like the 4wd light for a stick shift case.
The electric actuator need signals from the position in the case to know where to stop.
Mind the ball bearing ball inside like Bryn says, very important. Might fall out.
