Jimny stalls when hot was created by HWF
Hi

I have a 2001 Jimny 1.3
It starts and runs great for about 20mins. It then stalls and will not start. It turns over fine but won't start.
If i leave it for about 10mins and then try it again, it starts straight away.

Does any one have any idea what may be causing this?

Thanks

Crank sensor this is located behind the alternator
Get a cheap water sprayer filled with cold water
when it happens again give the sensor a good spray (to cool it down)
then if your engine fires straight up runs
buy a new sensor NOT a cheap one better still these are available from bigjimny shop ;)

Hi, my jimny is the soft top, the engine is the metal rocker cover, made in Andulucia (spain). The chassis plate says VSEFJB33C001049**.

Does this have a crankshaft sensor? If so where is it? I can't see one under the alternator.

The parts manual does list both a crank and cam sensor on this model although there may be minor variation as you do not give the full VIN number.

The crank sensor is very well hidden behind the alternator.

and will the replacement of the crankshaft sensor fix the problem? Mine stalls aswell when hot and I am considering replacing the O2 sensor. I tried looking up faults with Obd scanner but that did not work as the scanner cannot read the thing. did find a mention here on a
possible fault finding solutions by shorting a plug. I did find 2 plugs behind the glovebox but I wouldn't know which one to use or what pin to use? Bought the car secondhand last week but untill stalled on several occasions after driving on exiting motorway. I don't mind replacing parts but actually don't know where to start. its a 1999 hatchback model VIN JSAFJB33V00129248(01)
