Noise from timing belt/tensioner. Help was created by alexro
Hello,
Just fitted a new timing belt and tensioner on my '99 G13BB engine because there where some noises from there. With the new one i got the same noises, maybe a little lower. The noise is at about 1000 rpm and dissapears when idling or raising rpm. I let the belt a little loose and then i get the same noise at idling. This happens after about 15-20 km, so with engine hot. What i am doing wrong? Is the tension off? How can i do it right? Please help. Thanks in advance.

No, is not squealing. I think is from belt tensioning. The tensioning is made only by the that spring? Might it be something wrong with the spring?

Having a much newer chain driven one I have no direct experience of the belt drive ones but it does sound a bit over tension but I am out of my depth with these.
