Has anyone found a cost affective OBD reader for the Jimny Fourth Generation, JB74, 2019 ?
If so which one is it.

I have tried using the ELM327 without any success. Some background information.
Looking at the connector
Pin 1 – Blank
Pin 2 – Blank
Pin 3 – Blank
Pin 4 – Black Wire - Chassis GND
Pin 5 – Black Wire - Signal GND
Pin 6 – Blue Wire – CAN High J-2284
Pin 7 – Blank
Pin 8 – Blank
Pin 9 – Blank
Pin 10 – Blank
Pin 11 – Blank
Pin 12 – Blank
Pin 13 – Blank
Pin 14 – White – CAN Low J-2284
Pin 15 – Blue – ISO 9141-2 L-Line (ISO 9141-2 and ISO/DIS 14230-4)
Pin 16 - +12 v – Battery Power

The above descriptions are based on
pinoutguide.com/CarElectronics/suzuki_ob...gnostic_pinout.shtml

It appears the Jimny uses the J-2284 Protocol
However, from my attempts the ELM327 Blue Tooth adaptor does not support the J-2284 Protocol.

I use a cheap ELM327 Bluetooth reader from ebay together with this app on playstore - malykh.blogspot.com/2014/02/sz-viewer.html?m=1

Works for me, but then I don't really know what I'm looking at.

Thank you for your reply. I tried the same application you used “SZ Viewer a1” but it does not like my ELM327. I have the one in the following link. What ELM327 did you use?

I miss remembered, it was actually from amazon
ELM327 Wifi OBDII Scanner,Gemwon... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0721DC46Y?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I did have a problem with one update of the app but the developer fixed it when I reported it so make sure you have the latest version. I haven't tried it for a few months though.

Hello,
I too had problems using my OBDII scanner and Torque PRO with my Jimny 2019. The same setup works perfect with a Honda Civic 2014.

I tried all the settings I found in Torque App, including "Faster Communication", "Disable ELM327 auto timing adjust (slow mode)", "Use Alternate ODB Header" (part of vehicle profile), "Automatic - Thorough Protocol Scan" (part of vehicle profile). Nothing worked.

As Bill mentioned before, "SZ Viewer a1" app from Play Store worked fine and was able to read some data from the vehicle.

This is my ELM327 ODBII scanner that I bought from Amazon about 4 years ago: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PJPHEBO?pf_...FQKWP0QQ3AZZDEJRECH3

In the Torque App forums multiple Suzuki users mention that Torque doesn't work with the OBD scanner, the given answer is "you need to use external PIDs, go to Settings > Manage extra PID/Sensors" ... however that takes considerable effort and knowledge of your vehicle and sensors.
