Im planing on fitting one of robs (ORA) rear bumpers onto my jimny however this leaves little room for an exhaust tail pipe so where/what is the best way to route the exhaust. size mods etc?
What do you mean, the standard exhaust fits fine with the ORA heavy duty bumper - I have one and have not had the need to adjust my exhaust.
You mention rear winch in the title though, where does the winch come into it?
I had looked under mine and thought that if I could lose the back box and send the exhaust elsewhere there would be room for a winch between the rear chassis behind the fuel tank on a plate welded across the chassis. The only thing is I'd have to use the existing tow bar for the fairlead to mount to and if the rope had to go upwards and to one side and rub on the bumper I'm not sure it's mounts would appreciate it. The ORA rear bumper is good for what it's designed for but the mounts don't appear to be up for winching duties or perhaps recovery - which I guess is why Rob's not put recovery eyes on it.

Do you mean his rear winch tray? If so this is what I was thinking of and it has it's own fairlead mount and we are thinking the same thing about the rear exhaust.
At which point I think it's a case of get the tray mounted or hold it in place and then have a little look see to work out what you can do.
I reckon if you lose the rear section and get just a pipe made up with no silencer to come up and alongside the winch tray, with maybe a hanging point off the tray there will be room for the little Zuki pipe to squeeze alongside the tray on the passenger side. You'd have to to get an exhaust specialist to fabricate and bend up that pipe though and clearly it would be louder without the rear silencer. I'm not sure how that will sit with the MOT man though, so he would perhaps need consulting with first. I don;t know how much I would like the noise on a long run either!
I'm thinking the rope would come out under the bumper though. I'm not sure how Rob intends his rear wnch tray to mount. I see he's posted on here so he might be able to help out if he reads this??? Rob???

Also as far as the rear bumper goes im going to rewire the lights into the door and use the tray as it.
If you look at the tray back picture it welds directly onto the end of the chassis so I'm going to chop out that little recess as its only single skinned and level out the bit under the back door and it should slot in quite nicely. although leaving a hole in the boot floor, but as its a second car for me this aint a problem.
Oh right. I see what you mean, so where will the fairlead mount. Will you chop a bit out the door for it?
I saw the picture on the website but it's on his tubular trayback so I didn't know how it would differ on a full bodied car. It wouldn't be an option for me though as I need the boot space as little as it is!
I'll look toward to seeing your installation though. It will be a great mod and I think a rear winch can open up more options for you in getting over obstacles as it gives you a way of lowering yourself safely, pulling the back round aswell as for recovery.

My jimny has a winch tray at the back
It fits behind the rear bumper and you take off the rear number plate and the bumper is cut out behind for the winch cable to run
You can have a ganders at Tong before it gets covered in 2 inches of mud
