Front abs sensor question. was created by weecorey
I done the kingpin bearings and when removing the abs sensors the little plastic collar or insert has broken on one, can the sensor be fitted without the plastic insert and gasket sealant used instead?

Try it and see if it works If it does result, if it doesn't then you will have to replace!

Fitted both mine without the collars, set the distance by eye to the ring and it all works. If the gap is to wide it may show up an abs fault as it did on mine, so l just narrowed the gap and all was and has been good.

Thanks for the replys, I glued the wee collars back together and fitted with no issues. Won't know for sure if all OK until I'm on the road again. My pre mot clean turned into more of a mini restoration project! So far I've glass blasted any rust or flaking paint under neath the car and chassis and axles, treated the lot with coroless rust stabilizing primer before top coating with coroless black, replaced kingpin bearings, swivel seals, drive shaft oil seals, blasted and rebuilt calipers, removed and blasted vacuum pipes, replaced exhaust from front to back, fitted as new tyres. Most of what I done wasn't necessary but Im a really fussy kind of person and once I started one thing led to another!
