Wheel arch modification ? was created by Me and my Jimny
Hi All, just joined, in fact I've just realised how long I've been sat here looking through all your build threads and that if I didn't join and ask my question soon my phone will die, so here goes
I've been lucky enough to pick up a jimny that's already had a bit done to it, but still plenty for me to do too. One of the things the previous owner did was to cut out some of the arch and all the liner, and it looks like some of the metal, to make room for the tyres. Its left a few edges that is like to cover or get rid of so wondering the best way. I've heard of people knocking them in with a hammer, and I've also seen what looks like fabricated liners which extend out slightly too.
If anyone can give me any pointers on options, or pictures, I'd appreciate it

Ok so I've found the how to guides now, and read Martins on this subject. Still nervous about taking a hammer to the body work though so any more info on what it's safe to bash would be appreciated

Not too sure I'd like to hammer the rear arches into submission......I chased mine fairly close to the original spot welds without weakening them......do you need to go past the spotwelds? are the tyres catching?
Can you post some pictures as everyone likes a picture!

Thanks for the reply, I will try and post some pics next but first should explain it had a 2" suspension lift and 225/75 r16 geolanders by previous owner. I can't see any sign of rubbing so probably just being paranoid.
Did our first p&p day last weekend and forgot to have a look for rubbing when propped up on something, was having far too much fun it it
Pics to follow

Right, that seemed easy so hope they come out. The back ones are clearer than the front but I guess you'll know what you're looking for
Rear
Front
Plus one of the car, although it looks more jacked up this side as its on bumpy ground

Or not, looked easy, added files then insert each one into text. What did I do wrong ?
