Hmm well I suppose we could use the Comma mineral EP80w-90 to avoid any problems the Comma semi-synthetic EP75w-90 may cause - though everywhere recommends the latter. Maybe it was just a one off for facade or something else as you say.

I think I'll just go for the 75w-90 as this is what the manual recommends (even though it doesn't say semi synthetic or not) and what is listed on all parts websites. Also at Autosessives there's 20% off, and 40% off on Comma oils!

On that note, although the PO always used Castrol Magnatec, I am thinking of one of these following oils - but what's the difference, I guess both would work?

I'll go for either the comma 75/90 or the Castrol sms X. The comma is £18 for three bottles at my motor factor.

I use this from them for the engine- £12 and made by comma

Hmm that engine oil is also available here: www.autosessive.com/products/57922/10w40...thetic-engine-oil-5l

If I get either though, I would be deviating from the PO's use of Castrol Magnatec. Is it not a good idea to change oil brands?

I used comma mineral oil when I last did mine. The cheapest I could get that matched the manufacturers spec. 24,000 miles later and I've had no problems. I use EP90 in the diffs, which is the same stuff we put in tractor diffs and hubs. There is no requirement or benefit to using synthetics on a Jimny.

OK re using API GL5 EP 80w-90 on the diffs.

But I am only now confused about which oil I should get for the transmission and transfer - API GL4 semi-synthetic 75w-90 or API GL4 mineral 80w-90 In short, this:

www.autosessive.com/products/58847/sx75w...ynthetic-gear-oil-1l

or this:

I've gone for the 75w-90 semi synthetic.
