Roatary grinding noise? was created by Tommo
I get a noise from the font off side wheel, it's quite a hollow sound like tyre rumble, but it's not Consistant.
It seems to happen a lot when I lift off the throttle, but not every time, but I can hear and feel vibration
That feels like it's te front offside wheel.
I've just had it serviced by my friend who's a mechanic, and I asked if he could check the wheel bearings and all seems
Fine, and I've just had new shoes in the drums on the back, and there is a slight rubbing noise at certain rotations of the wheel, as I drive faster, the faster the noise, I assume the new pads just need wearing in?
But I don't know if it's todo with the grinding/rumble noise, I don't think it's the wheel bearings, the king pins would be noticeable when turning?
Can't be warped front disc as you would feel it through the brake pedal, same for the handbrake if I pull it up when driving, doesn't stop any of the noises
I don't know what it would be or what to check, any one had a similar experience?
Any help would be appreciated:)

ok so I had the back end up to see what going on, the off side spins lovely, but the near side didnt
Me thinking the new shoes are not worn in yet, but even after having the drum off, it's still there, must be a wheel bearing rite?
can any one confirm or identify what it is
cheers

Does the other wheel make that noise when jacked up and stripped like the nearside one? It sounds like a bearing but whether it is the wheel or diff is difficult to say without a bit more investigation. You could try putting a stethoscope(long screwdriver) to your ear as near to the rotating hub to try to differentiate where it is coming from.

No the other wheel makes no sound at all, and spins with ease
The near side is slightly stiff, when both wheels off the ground, the near side stops
Which is why I thought it was just the pads in the drum on that side and I took it off to see if it would stop the noise
