Hi

I'm new to this forum, bought my first Jimny in 2003 then a second in 2010. I live in the back of beyond in Aberdeenshire so a great car to have up here when it snows.

My Jimny started to pink a bit this summer, I've searched the forum but nothing comes up. Is anyone else having this problem? I've filled up with petrol from many different garages since it started, no change. 98 seemed to help a bit but didn't solve it. Any ideas?

mine does the same.... 2003 G13BB engine... changed all the plugs/leads/filters/injector cleaner.. cleaned out all the breathers.. cleaned the inlet with carb cleaner and still pinking..

mine also ticks over at about 500rpm and occasionally cuts out..

my thought its that its got a leak and running lean but I did the usual trick of spraying something like wd40 around the possible leak locations had no effect.. isolated the vacuum to the hubs in case they leaked also..

Still pinking and cutting out.. and ideas??

Done both and more.. new plugs and redex and leads and airfilter and oil/filter.. still pinks and cuts out.. goes like a train otherwise..

Hi Yellostreak and Marky. I've used injector cleaner, thought it cured it but it came back. Plugs were clean, no carbon build up at all for pre ignition, only 33,000 miles. Local garage is saying don't use supermarket petrol?

My Jimny runs ok, doesn't cut out like yours Yellostreak, just starts pinking when going up a hill (on road) in a high gear. I always back off when it happens.

Ignition timing? If it had a carburettor and points I'd have some idea but not up on electronics, codes etc at all.

May be you should change down a gear to stop the engine labouring causing it to pink
