Electrics dying one by one - HELP! was created by discotroll
Hmm...
during my engine re-build I changed the battery in my Jimny - now driving to work this morning and, one by one, everything electric started dying!
Radio went first, then the rev counter. A mile on and the speedo started spluttering and died, Air Bag light then came on and finally indicators died. Engine still running fine...
Any ideas? Are these just signs of the battery going dead - if so I'll change it back over asap....
Thanks,
DT

Oops - sorry - is an 02 soft-top with the single-cam. Has been suggested it might be the alternator? Sure it's down to something I've not quite done right when bolting it back together at the weekend....

Check the earth on the inlet manifold at the front and the one on the rear of the head from the cam sensor to the body

Sorted!

Thanks for the advice guys - had a good check over and found I had a loose connection at the back of the alternator so I think everything was trying to run off the battery!
My little Jim seemed far happier once I'd tightened this up and, just for a moment, felt almost nippy! This sensation obviously didn't last for long.... :silly:
Again thanks for the input,
DT
