Hi I've noticed that when my truck is stationary and up to temperature. she's constantly revving up to 900 rpm for a several seconds then dropping down to 650 rpm for a few seconds, then up again etc.

Even Hastiekid noticed it last weekend when he was hooking me up for recovery

anyone come across this before ?

could this simply be down to the PCV ( positive crankcase ventilation) valve

Yeah, it does this. It seems to be happening on other cars and models - the Romanian Suzuki forum has a heated discussion about this happening on the Suzuki SX4, with many opinions which can't be settled without a Suzuki engineer (not mechanic). Car shops will usually say "they all do that".

My opinion is the small "sizes" of everything in the Jimny (alternator, battery, engine) combined with some fast feedback loops give this behaviour. Nothing to be worried I guess.

you're spot on, the AC (with the big fan) obviously stresses the poor little Jimny out
