What is the biggest diameter & width of tyre that can be fitted to a Jimny SZ4 2013, that does not require any vehicle modifications?

Hi Jorden45,
Nice new jimjam. I wanted to get a new one, but the wife stopped me. Think she was right as my old (2005) softtop is more fun for the family year round.

To my knowledge the Jimny has had 3 different front bumper designs and it has been the front bumper that limits max size tyre that can be fitted on the previous two models. (that's previous to yours).

2013 model

Little is known about this new version and I think you are the first on this forum to own a 2013 model, you maybe on your own in regard to making changes. Allthough it does look like the 2013 model differs only slightly to previous.

The original older style front bumpers have more clearance for bigger diameter tyres. I'm sure 1390_taz is correct in that 215 75 15 is the largest diameter to fit on the old original style bumper without modification. I have this bumper on mine and currently running 195 80 15

I'm not sure but you might be limited to 205 75 15 or at a pinch 195 80 15 on a 2013 model. That's my best guess.

Don't forget that in general MT tyres come up bigger than AT tyres of the same size.

Your model may have the same clearance as the previous model, in which case I am sure someone should be able to help.

Keep in mind that the bigger tyres do compromise the Jimny. It all becomes a trade off between on road drive ability and off road performance. If you want to retain some on road performance I would not go above 205 75 15 or 195 80 15 at the largest.

I have just driven back from Wales in mine and reluctantly stayed to the motorways. My 195 80 15's limits the performance on motorway hills to 60/65 mph and top indicated of about 78mph. Fine for me, but noticeable slower than the 205 75 15 ATs I have.

You might find a fellow friendly BigJimny owner near to you that might help you by trying different wheel and tyre sizes.

Good luck and feedback what you find out.

Cheers
Paul
