Door light switches not working was created by discotroll
Hi -
Sorting the usual little bits and pieces when you buy a second-hand car but this one has left me a bit stumped. Nieither of the door switches for the interior light on my 02 seem to work - I've run a meter on them and there doesn't seem to be any current even running to the switch but I'm not sure where the live lead might be getting the current from!
The dome light works ok when put in the 'on' position and there is a buzzer I get if the door isn't closed properly (not sure if this uses the same circuit/switch).
Does anyone have any clues where I should start looking? I'm sure it can't be too complex on something like this...
Many thanks,
DT.

I would say to start looking at the wire conection in the light, i think theres just 1 wire to the door switch which is obviosly connected if the buzzer is still working.

Yes - that makes a lot of sense
The switch on the dome is super-wobbly/light - are they all like this or does this point to the light unit itself being at fault?

Well the only bit of help i can give is to test if the switch is working set your meter to resistance and the resistance should show when the switch is closed and no resistance when the switch is open

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

You do know that the switch has 3 positions:
AUTO(doorswitch) OFF and ON ?
no idea what the order is though, and it is very cold outside.
