Good Day
I hail from teh caribbean ..trinidad and tobago to be more exact....I have a 2002 hard top suzuki jimny A/T (M13A engine ) last month i noticed my transmission fluid run brown wth a slightly burnt smell . My vehicles transmission bucks when the gear is changing, sounds as though it is slipping and funny enough when i am driving sometimes at higher speeds it feels as though it bucks at a higher gear
THe transmission tech advised me to flush the transmission...so I did that .....problem still there
did a diagnostic check says o2 sensors plus knock sensors bad.
did nto change them as yet though cause i was not convinced .
The transmission tech then told me that my Throttle position sensor is bad

I am really confused and getting broke cause i seem to be getting nowhere ... I have little trust for these techies here and I have read threads yo all have set up and I fond the information very helpful

Regards

Do the revs hold high when changing gear if so could be throttle position sensor. Other codes are inconclusive as can be a result of other issues, will need live data off diagnostic equipment or you need to find yourself a trustworthy mechanic as is difficult to reliably diagnose through symptoms alone.

It is not the tps ....so can it be the clutches in the transmission?

The brown burnt fluid is a sign that something is wrong with the transmission.

Unfortunately, modern transmissions are controlled by an ecu that selects the gears using the throttle position, engine speed, road speed etc.

If something goes wrong with the ecu, a sensor or an actuator in the gearbox, it won't select gear properly, which can lead to excessive clutch wear.
You can also wear the clutches out by a lot of driving in stop and start traffic, towing or working it hard off road.

So, basically, there is a lot that can go wrong, and we can't really diagnose it over the internet. You are going to have to entrust it to a transmission specialist, or replace the vehicle.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Hi it seems as though I may need to replace as opposed to rebuild the transmission ...rebuilding is about 2500 USD ...these giuys cant seem to tell me what the problem is ....could be seals ,clutches or someother part I dont know ...I also do not see a check light in my vehicle ,does the 2002 Suzuki Jimny with the M13A engine come with one of these ? Looking for advice ...spent close to 200USD just trying to diagnose no luck.
