Ok new problem i went and had my tracking done this morning it was 15o out so they corrected that for me but as i was driving home i had the most horrendous noise from the front so i found somewhere to pull over had a look and the read steering bar that links the 2 hubs is rubbing on the diff flange but by the time i got back to the garage it was shut any idears as to what it is?? how close is that bar meant to sit to the diff flange and the bar doesn't look bent but if its meant to sit quite close then i wont need to be bent by much ill take it back to the garage wednesday but id like to go with some sort of knowledge as to what it may be.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
Most likely to get the tracking 15 degrees out in the first place, that rod is bent double, and rotating it has put the bend towards the flange.
Presumably they did as asked, and set the tracking, rather than find out why it was miles out in the first place.
They should have checked the swivel (kingpin) bearings and then had a look to see what was bent when they found that it was out.
There isn't much clearance, but the rod moves towards the front of the car as you turn away from straight ahead.
