My dash heater panel's light goes on and off.
Heater seems to work fine!

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Change the bulb
It may just be loose in the holder, but I'd get a new one.
someone asked how a while ago, try a forum search. I suspect that there is a fair bit of dismantling to do.

Knew there was something on here 
Sometimes the thin wire filament breaks, and when you tap the bulb (when it is powered), it welds itself back together, this is why whacking the dash can sometimes get bulbs to come back on, but it doesn't last, best to just swap the bulb for a new one with the trouble of getting to it.

Now that's sorted thought I'd add, the lighting with one bulb seems to me to be sadly inadequate.
It only illuminates the centre of the heater controls (2003) could do with an extra top & bottom save me feeling where they are.
Anyone upgraded theirs ....... :whistle:
