The picture i added earlier is on 235/75/15 special tracs on 7" rims, with 4:5" suspension lift and 2" body lift also arches trimmed. Hope this helps.

It's only really rocks that will effect alloys. I slightly caught a steel rim on rocks in the Lakes and a slight tap with a hammer now means I don't know what rim it was. If it were an alloy it might have been ruined. That was a 16" rim though.

Use 15" ers and you have more tyre and I suspect it wouldn't have happened.

Lots of people run alloys in the US of A on rocks and all with no issue.

So I think as long as you are mindful that if an alloy gets caught on something hard it won't ding it will have a lump taken out of it, why not use them. They look a lot better.

I'm on steels to reduce damage that can't be fixed in the field with my trusty hammer but realistically I would be happy to go to alloys and have considered it. Those Superlights I've seen on Auszookers look nice and they are made over here too!

Alloy wheels are better.

You have less weight on the wheels, transmision etc and less chances breaking caused to weight.

Try to measure the weight of a alloy wheel with a tire and the same with steel one.

But you want weight sometimes so that the wheel is pressing onto the ground harder to gain grip and traction, in a cross axle situation for example.

And thats excactly the time you break your cv's .

When you use tires with agressive pattern you need less speed, and there is the help af the low gears.

The opposite when you have tires with less agressive pattern, like bf km2.
