Some of you might have read my volt meter install project thread here , and this is now the second part in the quick project series!

And this is really QUICK and cheap too! B)

So, I was thinking the old standard interior light was kinda lame, and didn't give enough light, and these days everything LED is considered cool, so I felt it was time to do something about it. So I went to take some measurements to see what would be the correct bulb length for the job, and it turned out to be ~30mm, so that's the size I started looking for, and the site of choice was of course the home of worlds weirdest gadgets, Dealextreme! :laugh:

After a while I decided to order some of these .

And here it is installed in place. It's a tight fit, but there it is.




And a crappy picture of how it lightens up the whole interior! It's brighter in real life than that, and there's a good amount of light all the way back to the rear seats too! And I love that cool white color! Much better than the old warm white dim crap bulb!B)


I have a new set of bulbs on their way, and they should be 270lm instead of these old ones with only 110lm. So I will get some updated pics of those when I receive them if they are any good! :)

What year is the Jimny ? it's interesting because my cabin light has a W5W bulb (like the parking lights), making it somehow a pain in the ass to fit a bright bulb (most LED W5Ws are too long).

Mine is '00 model. I guess the bulb type changed with the new interior then....

Could someone take some pics of the newer light and post them on here? There must be a suitable bright bulb for those too, just need to look harder! :)

There is, I put one in (probably chinese-made, but it doesn't stay lit up for a long time so it held its part until now). Initially I got a pair of Osram W5W LED bulbs for the parking lights, but they were too long and didn't fit ... of course, they were too long for the cabin light also :laugh:

That light is making it appear as if your steering wheel is on the wrong side! :laugh:

I use a red LED in my jimny's interior light... I like to retain my night vision and white lights scare critters away.
