Some of you might have read my volt meter install project thread here , and this is now the second part in the quick project series!

And this is really QUICK and cheap too! B)

So, I was thinking the old standard interior light was kinda lame, and didn't give enough light, and these days everything LED is considered cool, so I felt it was time to do something about it. So I went to take some measurements to see what would be the correct bulb length for the job, and it turned out to be ~30mm, so that's the size I started looking for, and the site of choice was of course the home of worlds weirdest gadgets, Dealextreme!

After a while I decided to order some of these .

And here it is installed in place. It's a tight fit, but there it is.

And a crappy picture of how it lightens up the whole interior! It's brighter in real life than that, and there's a good amount of light all the way back to the rear seats too! And I love that cool white color! Much better than the old warm white dim crap bulb!B)

I have a new set of bulbs on their way, and they should be 270lm instead of these old ones with only 110lm. So I will get some updated pics of those when I receive them if they are any good! :)

What year is the Jimny ? it's interesting because my cabin light has a W5W bulb (like the parking lights), making it somehow a pain in the ass to fit a bright bulb (most LED W5Ws are too long).

Mine is '00 model. I guess the bulb type changed with the new interior then....

Could someone take some pics of the newer light and post them on here? There must be a suitable bright bulb for those too, just need to look harder! :)

There is, I put one in (probably chinese-made, but it doesn't stay lit up for a long time so it held its part until now). Initially I got a pair of Osram W5W LED bulbs for the parking lights, but they were too long and didn't fit ... of course, they were too long for the cabin light also

That light is making it appear as if your steering wheel is on the wrong side!

I use a red LED in my jimny's interior light... I like to retain my night vision and white lights scare critters away.
