Hi all,
Just registered on the forum and this is my first post. I have however been reading the forum since I got my Jimny. Please excuse any noob mistakes. I must commend the quality of most posts and replies from some members who make it pleasurable and very informative to read.
I am from the UK and visit Kenya regularly where I bought my Jimny in Nov 2011 to use when I am down. For the last year it has been in storage as I made only a few short trips. It's a 2001 Japanese import.
Last week I got it out of storage gave it a good full service and its now driving like a treat with one exception, at speeds over 50KPH there is excessive body roll from left to right. I decided to have a look to see if I can spot anything obvious and immediately spotted the 2 rear coil springs are of different size (thickness).
I now need to buy new coil springs and am thinking of giving the entire suspension an upgrade. I want to maintain standard height whilst having a suspension stronger than a standard UK suspension as the roads here in Kenya can sometimes be quite demanding and not to mention I will be light off-roading a little bit. The new suspension should not be detrimental to the chassis and the ride should still be comfortable as it is my everyday car.
In Kenya suspension suppliers use a very "finger in the wind" approach which I don't like. I have access to all suppliers in UK and will have no problem bringing the stuff down to Kenya.
Any suggestions/ discussions are most welcome.

Hi Mate, a big welcome to one of the best forums for Jimny's. Mline seems to be the best fella to talk to about bits n pieces in here. I sometimes wander over to South Africa and I found that the best site over there for Jimny-related info is
4x4community.co.za/forum/
but watch out for the deluge as they post a couple of thousand items a day! Very helpful mob though and I have met a few of the folks over the years.
Anyway, back to your problem. Your Jimny may have 2 different springs in an attempt to remove the "Jimny Lean". I have found that "Rolling" tends to be more caused by shot shockers. Have you tried bouncing each corner of the Jimny and seeing how long each corner takes to stop bouncing? Bouncing should stop fairly rapidly if shockers are good. I'll leave it to the real experts to come up with more suggestions/solutions.

Jimny lean is corrected with a slightly longer spring to the drivers front.
As your jimny is a 2001 I suspect your springs have sagged and the shocks are worn.
For rough roads and light off roading a standard set-up is fine and can take a'lot of abuse.
