No reverse........ Have i wrecked the gearbox?

As in the title was out in the jimny up a farm track so in 4hi was attempting to turn at the top selected reverse let the clutch up and there was an allmighty bang now i have no reverse atall in 2hi, 4hi or 4low i can select it at any time clutch up or down when i did move off again i shifted to 2hi and there was a loud grinding noise which stopped after about 20 seconds i drove the jeep home and tried to push it back and the grinding has re appeared am i looking at a gearbox replacement or a transferbox? its a T reg jimny

If out will drive in the forward gears but nit reverse I would say gearbox. Can you select all gears? Whereabouts are you in the country?

Yeah can select all 5 forward gears in hi and low box but no reverse atall I'm in Arbroath Scotland it's on the east coast

Well iv sourced a second hand gearbox i collect it tomorrow hopefully get it fitted this week and that should solve my problem.
