Mud & snow/winter tyres was created by Bonehead
Hi

I have just bought a 2010 Jimny and would like some advice on winter tyres.
I would like to buy another set of wheels and tyres mainly for snow use but also a bit of muddy off road.
Has anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance. Paul.

the new General Grabber AT's - but you'd like them so much you'd run them all the time and never use your originals again, so if you're going to run two sets of rims, you may as well go more extreme - don't know what you could use though, as you're stuck with a 205/75R15 size unless you want to start hacking your front bumper to bits (remember that on post 2005 models, the bumper is different, so what pre 2005 owners tell you wont apply) ;)

the old grabber AT2's are great on/off road - I run them all year round, only downside is increased fuel consumption as the car sticks to the road so much better. :silly:

here's the Grabbers fitted to the Dog Taxi

ps welcome to the forum ;)

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI bought a set of these Marix MPCs for last winter;

They are heavily siped and the tread blocks were quite flexible, just like they are on the winter tyres I run on my other car. They felt fine, but there wasn't really any snow to speak of last year to really test them. Fuel economy dropped from ~35mpg on the standard duellers to ~32mpg.

dirtydogz has nailed it, they look ideal for you

original 205/70R15 Bridgestones diameter = 668mm
typical AT 205/75 R15 diameter = 688 mm
Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 195/80 R15 diameter = 693 mm

and you get a free 12.5mm lift :silly:

good chance they'll fit OK, at worst you may have to loose a mudflap, but worth a try

Thanks everyone.

I like the look of the Kuhmo Road ventures but would like to avoid removing mud flaps if possible (Can't be arsed in my old age) Can I assume that to play safe I will need to stick to 205/70R15's at 668mm diameter or will I get away with 205/75R15's at 688mm without any mods?

I like your idea Halford of going more extreme as they will be a second set. Grabbers look great by the way, what size are they?
