do you mean click as they engage 4WD? In which case as close to the front wheels as you can get, normally loudest first time you do it. If it doesn't do it whilst stationery try it slowly moving in a straight line...

Does it have Manual Hubs or Vacuum controlled?

If manual, engage them, put it into 4-wheel drive, low box, reverse gear and turn on full lock - get someone else on grass, and you listen to hubs

If vacuum controlled, then same, but i think you wont know if they are working, unless you jack one wheel use in the air....

chears lads there vacuum by the way just thourt id ask as i dont want to buy a lemon that iv got to spend loads on :laugh:
