need for the noise to happen again for me to be sure if it jumping out of gear.
Pretty sure its not a heat shield, its a mechanical grating similiar to when the cars not quite in gear & you rev it & the gears grate.
Having said that there is a seperate noise when setting off in 1st & 2nd (& maybe not giving it enough revs) which i thinkl is a heat shield at the back resonating.

When it gets too hard to pinpoint the source of some noise, I just give up and try to drive the problem out! After that it's easy, just replace some parts. :laugh:
