How sturdy are the roof bars ? was created by happypig
I've got a chest of drawers to shift and I was going to stick it on the roof bars, tie it on and drive it home (couple of miles).
I'm just concerned that the roof bars are sturdy enough that if I have to brake heavily, the weight of the thing wont pull them off.

Oficially, it's 30 kg maximum weight. Unoficially, some have loaded up to 50 kg.

They're actually pretty strong ;)
I've had x3 wire-reinforced all-glass fire doors on at the same time with no probs.
As a rule I'd say that if you can lift something high enough to get it on the roof then it'll be OK
Just don't drive so there's any possibility that you'd have to brake hard

as a last resort simply put a wheel on each corner of the drawers and it'll look just like a Jimny
