Engine Management light was created by Perris
We have a Y Reg Jimny recently purchased. It has been running fine. We just had the brake discs and pads changed and the exhaust back box needs replacing but the engine management light has come on. Know very little so any advice appreciated in laymans terms as to possible causes. Still seems to drive fine. Thanks,

Could be anything, you will need to get a code reader plugged into the engine diagnostic socket under the dash by the drivers left knee.

If the car is a hard top, one of the ebay £20 jobs will work, soft top you may be able to activate the self diagnostic that flashes the light from the socke tbehind the glovebox.

As your exhaust has gone, it may be the sensor after the catalyst is confused, so it thinks the catalyst has failed.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
