Newbie Qs was created by Dave Mash
Hello - at last I've got myself a Jimny. Its an 04 JLX with 40k on the clock. Very happy so far but a couple of questions.
- The exhaust rear box is knocking against the underside of the chassis - am I missing a grommit or attachment? Pic attached.

- What tyre pressures would you recommend for standard wheels and tyres?
- Is there a full parts list on line anywhere?

Thanks in advance,
Dave.

Hi mate and welcome to the club. Are you wanting to lift the Jimny or just keep it standard. If you look at the top of the page where it says SHOP then this has a list off off road parts and most service parts or Ebay have cheap parts as well.
Get some pics of your motor posted so we can have a look.

Thanks
James

Hi james - no, just want to keep it standard. I have looked at the pipe and there is a rubber retaining fitment higher up but the tail pipe seems to move a bit too much side to side and so I was just wondering if there was something missing.

There are 2 hangers on the back box, one at the tail end and one at the join end. Either one could have bust, a rubber mount bust, some movement is normal on the mounts but my hanger on the tail end snapped off with rust. You can't see it easily even when you're underneath but its the one that gets all the crud on it. If its not blowing take it into a local exhaust place you trust and ask them to re-hang it. I fitted my own system from the cat back and it recently moved/dropped and was knocking on the towbar. I had to replace my cat and they re-hung the whole lot for me.

Tyre pressures are inside the drivers door, they're 23 front and i run my rears at 28(between unladen and laden).

Parts- i think martin has a comprehensive parts list on the main site.

And, welcome to Jimny ownership. :)

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

Thanks for that - checked and found that both rubber hangers are in place - there's just a little bit of sideways movement, wear and tear I guess. The union on the muffler is very corroded and may need sorting at some point and so this will also be a chance to fix this other problem. 8-)

I've found the parts list too, so I'm very happy.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
