tyre size effecting the speedo? was created by ne-crock
Hey
Is there a way of adapting your speedo to tell you the correct speed if you put larger tyres on, my new tyres are going to be 12% bigger so it will have an effect on my speedo if i'm correct in my thinking?
cheers for any help,
crock

Have a drive with a Sat Nav on to see what speed that says your doing, I think they are generally more reliable than a car's speedo, especially the faster you go! You may find it's not far out!
My Mrs BMW is near spot on what the sat nav says at most speeds. My Micra shows 80MPH on the speedo but the same sat nav shows it at 72MPH ish!!! The Micra is as it left the factory aside from some rust!

I use this tyre size comparator to check the difference between original and proposed new size...

Calculators work for the theoretical size but often they are bigger or smaller than the size marked on the side wall, so a tape measure is needed.
