Starting out. was created by jakexme
Hi.
Ive only recently got my Jimny
A very clean looked after 2000 model.
Looking to start off roading and have a little bit of cash to start out.
Im basicaly seeking advice as to what to get and the order of importance for each bit.
main plan is
- "2 lift shocks and springs.
(mounting brackets for rear shocks have already been advised to reduce wear.)
- AllTerrain tyres only slightly larger than stock
- plan to custom fabricate front and rear bumpers as i have acces to welding and tube bending gear
(need to look up appropriate mounting methods)
i want to keep it running as a road car. with just the basics to make sure i can get aroudn in the mud.
Any ideas or advice will be greatly appretiated
Cheers

Hi mate & welcome, The list of mods is a very good starting point and thats pretty much what I have on mine apart from a couple of other small mods like a snorkel and Diff breathers and a winch & some armour.
If your not going to do much off road then probably just the diff breathers to allow you to go through water deeper than the axles & a Transfer ox guard. With these mods fitted you will have a very capable truck that will go almost anywhere you point it. This is just where it all starts though mate once you get the bug then its never ending I hope you have some deep pockets. Where you from.
Thanks
James
