winch fuse size ? was created by reaper

what would be the recomended fuse size for a 12000lb winch ?

and are there some large connection types as the cables are like 8g so fitting a 18g wired fuse seems a bit daft to me :silly:

I managed to find a 500 amp fuse and holder at my local auto electrical shop.
That's in use with my 10000lbs superwinch, 190ah truck battery and 50mm cable.
I'm sure they will have larger!

biggest i can find is a 400 and the cable inputs are to small at that :angry:

My fuse has m8 bolts, got 50mm cable going to it, all. Nice and secure in a fuse holder, if you need a fuse this size and holder I can get them for you, they should have bigger fuses too, I will ask. All in probs for under Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£10 for fuse and holder. Just give me a shout if you want me to pick 1 up, will be friday afternoon before I can get there.
And you can have a Value Added Theft recipt!

The holder has a tough plastic cover

And I used 2 colours of electrical tape as I ran out of red :blush:
