3" BOY LIFT was created by myers647
Hi,
my mate has bought an 02 plate jimny today, very nice and tidy. Its had a 3" body lift & 2" spring spacers. It wont engage into the low box, when you try pull the lever back it makes a slight grinding noise and then pops back out,is this due to the body lift, does the lever need lengthening ??
thanks

This is due to the bodylift, you will need to remove the shaft then get it bent forwards and heated by torch, before you remove it mark where you want the bend and the rear point of the shaft, then get it heated up and bent, little at a time, mine took a few goes with heat trial and error.
To remove the shaft remove the rubber cover, then you will see 3 bolts, remove these and the shaft will pull up.
I did a jimny case a few months ago and got it fine 2nd time lucky. No cutting of the tunnel!
Today I bent a shaft for my SJ case to suit my 2"bodylift on my jimny, it was a nightmare, luckily I already had my jimny in a workshop having welding done. The SJ shaft is a nightmare in itself as it requires to be rotated as well as bent, no way was I going to cut my tunnel!.
With a 2" bodylift the shaft length was on the limit, I'd recommend extending the shaft after bending to suit.

If you pull the carpet back, remove trim ect then the 4 screws will open it all up so you can see the problem.
Its easy to do without stripping anything, just by feel underneath, but I like to be awkward, the bodylift gives plenty of room to get your hands in.

With a 3 inch body lift you may have to lengthen the selector. Chopped and welded mine.
