Hi I recently bought a Jimney and read the manual. It says one must not tow the Jimney unless the rear wheels are off the ground on a dolly wheel. Is this correct? and Why?

Is it an Auto? As far as I remember, towing an auto with the driven wheels on the road is a no no due to the possibility of gearbox damage.

Hi No it is a manual transmission. I even called the dealers and they said the same thing. My only concern is when I need to tow my vehicle for a long stretch it will ruin the car. Any ideas?

Having a quick search on the interweb suggests that later models '05 onwards, with the electronic 4wd switching, should not be towed without being suspended at the rear.

My 04 manual with stick shift 4x4, also says the back must be lifted

Not a clue then sorry but handy to know just in case RAC man turns up and wants to drag the little bugger home!
