Hi guys just a queerie,
I got my first Jimny about 6 mth ago, love it and think its great!
My only negative thing I could say is that is appears a little "flat" in performance under 3000 rpm. I know its not a racing car, never wanted or want it to be but not sure this is right? It's fine when you get it singing along over 3000rpm it flys along quite nicely, but going up hills you have to drop Down the gears and get it reving over 3000 otherwise it slows down and won't maintain speed.
I appreciate that it's not a sports car and that its a 1.3 engine and that it's strength is off road and country laying, but as ths is my first Jimny I have nothing to compare it too and don't know if it's just a characteristic of the Jimny?
If this is what they are like the that's fine, no problem I can live with it, but if it has a fault then I would rather get it sorted.
Is this what they are like guys?
Thans in advance for your help
Steve.

from your other posts i see that you service it regularly so the normal answer of swapping the air filter and plugs probably wont apply
my guess is it just how they are it depends what your used to driving but at the end of the day its a small highreving jap engine
compared to my pt cruiser yep id say the jim jam bogs on low rpm but compared to our old jimny or the 1l micra its about the same

I'd say its the character of the car, my old 410 was just the same. They just need to be worked a bit.

Yep thought so fellas, it has no DTC's , runs well and MPG is good. I though it would just be a characteristic of the Jimny. My experience of jap engines is that the more you rev them the better they go and that's what the Jimny is like. I was out in her a few minutes ago and she goes surprisingly well when you work her a bit harder ! It not often these days I'm in a rush anywhere anyway!
Cheer guys

Just something to bair in mind guys, I thought I'd try some super unleaded (98Ron) in her instead of the standard unleaded (95Ron) as my experience from subarus suggest better performance out of the higher octain stuff. I filled her up last night from empty with super unleaded and. Have done 80 miles, so the super is well into the system by now! There I a definate difference in the responsivence and noticeable improvement in low to mid range performance, even the blonde wife said this afternoon what ave I done to the jimny as its running better!!!! And she never new I had change the fuel!
See how it goes over the next few days hey guys.
