Bigger Alternator was created by TomDK
I finally got myself a Jimny, a 2002 RHD, bought in Germany
But, for winching, I need a bigger alternator, 100+ Amp.
I think I've read somewhere that an alternator from a Mondeo fits, but not sure.
Anyone of you know of a big alternator that's a straight bolt-on ?

Well done mate. Germany though!
I've not upgraded mine and with my Numax battery have not needed to even doing a winch challenge comp.
How much winching you planning on doing in a day?
Zanfi do one and it must be used on a car that's in production. If I had one I could take it to my father in law and he may be able to identify what car uses it as he rebuilds them for a living and knows them by sight or uses a magic book!
I've not heard of anyone knowing of a popular application or we would all use it. There are some on here that have a twin alternator set up though, but like I say, do you need it?
Might be an idea to try with the standard one to start with.

Thanks.
It's in good condition other than lots of scratches on one side. But mechanically very good
Bought it in Germany because it was located only 1 hours drive from the border. If I was going to get on from the UK it would take 2-3 days, and probably end up spending the same amount of money in total.
I think I'll just start out with the standard alternator, but talked to som guys (Team Bertelsen here in Denmark) that build challenge trucks, also Jimny's for challenge. They told me that they use 100+ Amp alternators for their Jimnys. From what I can read on different forums, these guys are pretty well respected around europe, at least when it comes to 4x4 challenge/off-roading
Well anyway, I bought a Goodwinch 9.5c from them
I don't know how much I'll be winching, just that I'll hate to be low on power. So I've also bought a Exide EP900 Dual AGM 100Ah Battery

I think I'd be looking for one if I did proper full on competitions like they do, but for general offroading and a fun competition every now and then, the standard one should see you in good stead.
Like I say, see how it goes and have a set of jump leads on you until you're confident you'll not run flat and I reckon you'll never use them. You'll have them for security though.

I suppose you're right
I start out with the standard alternator.
I have been looking at a few batteries. These two are what my local shop has to offer in my price range
Exide ER550 Dual 110Ah 760CCA
or
Exide EK800 AGM 80Ah 800CCA
The ER550 has bigger capacity but an older design, I believe some kind of lead acid thing.
The EK800 is newer AGM technology and more CCA, but less capacity.
They cost the same. I tend mostly towards the EK800 due to the higher CCA, since it will be used for winching.
What do you say?
