When did Jimny's change from mechanical to electri

The title says it all really.When did the 4wd operation change fom mechanical to electical operation.Which is best.I would have thought mechanical would be less troublesome. But I could be wrong

Around late 2005 iirc. The function of the selection of 4wd would be depending on its use, for frequent off road i would personally prefer the manual version especially once the vacuum hubs have been binned. I know a few that have used the leccy version without any trouble though.

Thank you for the quick reply . So that will mean I will be getting one with manual selection as i am hoping to get one up to 2002.
Does anyone want to swap a 3003 Diesel Clio for a Jimny???
