constant problems >< was created by DAM0
Hey all got a couple of questions if anyone can help me please?
Had the same problem since getting the jimny where the rev counter goes mad and it feels like you hit a brick wall. Been helped brilliantly on these forums and informed to check fault codes and change crank & cam sensors - ended up changing an o2 sensor, the crank? Sensor (back of engine block) but for the life of me can not find the other! I read being the alternator etc. but it’s either not there or I’m being a complete tit!
Any chance someone can post a pic of the location, or does the motor even have one? ( soft top 1.3 jlx) either way the problem is still there and its driving us both mad!
The second issue I’m having is the air alternator? Belt (cant think which is which) Recently changed like for like as the old was frayed on the edge quite badly (easy no? it is on a Porsche!)
The problem I’m having is a ridiculously loud inconsistent screeching noise, now I’m thinking maybe its just too tight but I notice that the top roller seems to be 1/4 inch out, in which the belt doesn’t sit right?
Maybe it’s just me but is this normal?
Any ideas / help would be extremely appreciated!
Damo.

At a guess, a 1.3 JLX soft-top would have a G13bb engine ( I think I can see the plastic timing belt cover in your picture)
In which case it probably doesn't have a crank sensor.

Thank you for the speedy reply, would you have any idea to alternative causes to the problem im having if the cam sensor has been replaced.
I have swapped this out twice thinking the first (2nd hand of ebay) was faulty, the current one is new.
Cheers.

the symptoms you describe do sound like cam/crank sensor problems, would definately be checking what engine you have
screeching belt might be its too tight yes, poss a pulley on its way out? hard to tell without hearing it

cheers for the replies, sorry mine has taken soo long!
Your right in the fact I dont have the second sensor, I am at a loss to what else to check with the kangarooing.....
Also having no luck with the belt problem, and now paranoid the top roller is not sitting right as the belt seems to be at a slight angle, any advice on this problem? The noise is a killer!
Cheers guys.
