Spray primer advice was created by Adamski
I'm going to be spraying my steel rock sliders on Wednesday and don't know what spray primer to use. I obviously want it to be hard wearing and stop rust plus I'm going to be spraying some tough black spray stuff over it as the top coat.
Can anyone recommend anything?
Good/Bad experiences with certain primers?
I have seen this stuff at screwfix but the only review is not very good > www.screwfix.com/p/plasti-kote-zinc-prim...20?_requestid=407855

i sell plasticote products at my work, they are fine if you plan on using plasticote top coat but its not very hard wearing, anything else you try and spray on top of it seems to react or go on as if the surface has been previously sprayed with oil. I get alot of my car paint from here
auto-paint.co.uk/carpaint/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=12
you should be able to paint over any of their primers with anything. i think the correct procedure is to etch then prime with a normal primer then top coat.

Thanks guys, I've had a good read of the retro rides thread and it is a total minefield
Does anyone have any experience of this stuff? > www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-zinc-galvanising-spray/29784
So when you say etch then prime with a normal primer then top coat would it be:
auto-paint.co.uk/carpaint/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=53
Then
auto-paint.co.uk/carpaint/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=52
Then
auto-paint.co.uk/carpaint/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=5
I am absolutely clueless with paint so all your help/advice is much appreciated

ive never seen that galvanising spray before, but if its anything like galvafroid then it should be good stuff.
Yep that is the correct order of paint, an enamel of some sort might make a harder wearing top coat.

Yeah I've heard good stuff about Galvafroid.
I'm tempted to use www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-zinc-galvanising-spray/29784 as the primer then black spray as the top coat - does anyone have any for or against this?
Please keep the advice coming as I want to ensure the metal is well protected.
