Intermittant engine warning light was created by paul3
Hi, before I go and spend my sisters money on a pre or post cat HO2S sensor I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
Last year the engine warning light was coming on for a day or so and then it would go off for a couple or a few days. The HO2S sensor code came up when she took it to be checked and the pre cat HO2S sensor was changed. Lately the engine warning light has started doing the same thing but with longer gaps of weeks instead of days when the light is off and the HO2S sensor code is coming up again.
The jimny is a 55 plate soft top with a G13BB engine, should I apply the same values to the sensors that are applied to the M13 engine sensors because there is no post cat sensor shown on the G13BB engine in the workshop manual.
Also how critical is the testing temerature of 68 degrees, within reason how far can you stray either side of this temperature value.
The pre cat sensor has a resistance of 13.4 ohms and the post cat sensor has a resistance of 13.2 ohms. They were tested around lunch time today 27.09.11 and I'd say the ambient air temperature was warm to very warm.
Any feed back is much appreciated.

It could be the Cat I suppose, have you had an emissions check done? Most friendly Mot stations will do one for beer money.

Thanks Kirkynut, I haven't had an emissions test done, it looks likely an emissions test will probably throw more light on what's going on.
My sister tells me she is now driving along about 30 mph and every now and then it feels like she's hit a patch of glue, it slows then drives away as if nothing has happened.
I drove it today, pulled off from a junction and it crawled away, no jerking or jumping and no missing just crawled for a couple of yards then went as normal.
Got back with it lifted bonnet and slightly opened the throttle by hand and low and behold it started to surge, tries to rev but dies back, then tries to rev again before dieing back.
Opened the throttle slightly more and there was a slight improvement, open the throttle a lot more and the surging goes away.
It starts from cold or hot first time but seems to be jittery and uncomfortable at fast idle when starting from cold and left to idle and warm up.
After a couple of minutes idling, as it warms up it seems happier and more stable.

We had the same thing with the intermittant light and the code reading o2 sensor. We had one o2 sensor on the inlet manifold changed under waranty and all was good. Also hadnt realised that it was running so rough untill it was changed so must have been a gradual decline.

Thanks srcars for your reply, this has helped me narrow things down.
The guy at the local dealer parts department told me that they sell a lot of front sensors for all suzuki's.
When I asked him if there is a weakness with the front sensors,, his reply was I'm not sure about a weakness but if I sell you one today you'll be back in 4 to 5 years buying another one.
Can anyone confirm that the front HO2S sensor in the exhaust manifold on a 55 plate Jimny with a G13BB engine is the same as one that would go in a M13 engine.
Thanks again
