If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Good idea, but how do you get the pin back in?
The way he hammered it out I doubt if the holes line up.
I suppose you could taper the pin and funnel out the lead of the inner hole and whack it back with a bigger hammer
