Jimny Z series (FJB43V) Air conditioning help was created by fnq_chris
Hi there all,
chasing info/help or both regarding the above vehicle was built in Oct04 & imported Feb05.
Fault Description :-
Condenser doesn’t run when the fan (on any ‘on’ setting) & aircon button is on (green light comes on).
I thought it might be low on charge so removed the pressure sw connector & shorted the connections but this made no difference.
Condenser only runs when one side of the disconnected pressure sw connector is shorted to ground – system gets cold but obviously the fan & aircon sw have no control.
I’m in a bit of a remote spot & the service ppl here say it’s likely a poor earth somewhere.
I found a great workshop manual for another older model that has a whole section dedicated to the air conditioning system, faults their causes etc & how to check each component which has helped in ‘general’ but not specifically. It even has voltages to check on the ecu etc & wiring diagrams but being a different model it doesn’t really help. My ecu connections again are different so if I could check these correctly that might be a start.
Does anyone know where I can find this sort of manual with this detail for my model & or can anyone help with this issue.
Many thanks in advance,
Chris

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Download a copy of the workshop manual.
There is a whole section on the wiring.
Most likely there is something amiss with the 4wd controller, the aircon only works when the 4wd controller knows the car is in 2wd.
Try removing yellow connector E74 from the 4wd controller, located at the right hand side under the dash and join the green/black to green/white. This ought to get the aircon working (BTW, the heater fan needs to be blowing or the clutch won't pull in) but the 4wd won't work properly: I'm assuming yours is the push button type.
take a look at

Hi again Facade,
Yes it is the push button aircon control type. I had a quick look at the 2/4wd contol below the aircon / blower controls & it only has a green conector with 6 wires - 2xBlack 1xRed/yellow 1xBlue/black 1xBlue/yellow & 1xBlue.
No yellow connector or the wires you refer too!
Cheers,
Chris

Sorry, I meant the 4wd is the push button type, as opposed to two gear levers.
Connector e74 is up under the drivers side dash near to the door post. You need to lie on the floor to get to it.
No idea what is below the blower controls.
For a manual, google is your friend
popping jimny manual download in the search box should do it. It is a pdf file or an archive, about 65mb

Cutting to the chase, the OP of the original thread had a faulty switch. The switch is a 2 pole type one pole turns on the green light, the other pole activates the air con.
So the green light tells you the switch is pressed in.
Try grounding the blue/red wire at the aircon switch, this activates the air con. If it does, there is nothing wrong with the 4wd controller, you need a complete air con control panel, which at suzuki prices will mean you need to sell a kidney to pay for it.
