I've got the car back and I've re-checked what the garage say they checked which includes all the HT leads.

What has been suggested is that the engine running roughly isn't an actual problem itself, rather it is being caused by the engine starting wrongly. So basically when the engine does start it is trying to fuel or exhaust at the wrong time.

So my feelings are the probable cause Is the cam position sensor which tells the engine the wrong info so it fuels wrongly or the ECU is being a twat.

Either way, annoyingly the car seems alright at the moment. Due to that I love my Jimny what I might do is just live with it but one day when I've done a few engine mods is just get a performance ECU tune done. Which may rectify the startup issue.

if its the Cam Sensor, then this should have been checked ... the Cam sensor is only about £55 and if faulty will cause rough idleing and iratic power delivery ... spluttering and stalling.

as Municipal Waste says, its a brand new Jimny. Take it back to the dealer, its their problem.

Hello Zuky´s

My Jimny does the same...
I´m suspecting that my 3 years old son "repair" the knob of the CO adjusting. That is under the glove compartment.
Some days ago he tooke the flash light and lay down under there and said to me that he was reparing the car...

Do u think that this cold cause the problem?
Because the simptoms is like in a carb engine when the idle mixture is not set propely.
After the car is hot(normal temp) every thing is smoth...

It's a dealer with most likely all the relevant sensors on the shelf as few are unique to the Jimny.

I'd suggest they start a process of elimination changing the coolant temp, cam, crank, throttle position sensors. It will cost them nothing as if one is not at fault it goes back on the shelf. It's a benefit of being a dealer. If they don't have them they can order them. They'll sell them all at some point.

They could also check the throttle position is set up correctly and that the crank / valve timing is correct.

All basic stuff. Just because there are no codes doesn't mean there is no fault.

As has been said, it's their problem and I'd give it back expecting a suitable courtesy car until it's fixed as they can't supply a replacement.

Either that or they pay me to come and do what they can't and for my accommodation. Do you live somewhere nice and picturesque?
