Tool for the Front Wheel Bearing Nut was created by overthetop
I intend making my own tool for the undoing of the front wheel bearing nut.
Measuring off the screen from a drawing of the front axle in the workshop manual I estimate that the tool (for 4WD versions) needs to be approx 54mm o/d x 40mm i/d. This tube to have 4 steel pins of approx 6.5mm diameter equal spaced on a 47mm PCD on one end to engage with the holes in the wheel bearing retaining nut.
Can anyone confirm or correct these dimensions please?
thanks

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

I replied to your other forum post.
Search on here for hub nut socket size, or for my posts.
I measured off my own vehicle.

I have one in my tool box but I'm 80 miles away from it till Tuesday evening.
Let me know and I'll measure it.

Getting close!
I wonder if the 6mm pin centres might be a bit under 50.4 or the o/d of the tool might be a bit above 56 as 50.4+6=56.4.
I know the pins are close to the o/d of the tool as shown in the photographs but I guess they shouldn't be breaking out of the side?
I am now looking for a suitable piece of steel to make the tool.
Walking the dog has now taken on a new purpose.
thanks for your assistance.

Take the vacuum hub off.
Push two 6.3mm drill shanks into a pair of opposite holes, they will be a tight fit, measure across the outside and subtract 6.3mm.
You are right, the sizes on mine are not what I published.
Mind you it is 20 degrees centigrade warmer than when I made it, no doubt the Aldi verynear callipers have expanded a bit.
Using the Aldis, the hole centres scribe line is 49.6mm

Just a little tip when using the socket make sure you hold it in place firmly , straight on to save slipping out and also it wont damage the outer metal ring as this is air tight seal for them to work.
Dont spose it matters to much if you've done away with the vacuum........but I like mineB)
