Is my panhard rod bent? was created by Mitch
Hi all, my first post
Im a die hard vw man, but must say ive fallen in love with the wifes jimny. Ive put some black modulars on it and done the front king pin bearings and swivel seals already.
Ive found my way round the jimny pretty easy but i just need to clarify if the front panhard rod is truly bananaed! Im getting the death shake but its improved with the kingpins being done. I looked and the axle has shifted right over and the p rod looks like its tried to have a kiss with the sump to
So....yes/no is it bent? I think it is but dont have a standard one to compare to.

Hi and Welcome to the forum.
Lots of info on here for you as and when you need it.
I would say that the p.rod is well and truely bent. It should be straight.

Hi and welcome
If you've still got the death wobble after staightening the panhard rods check the tie bar ends for wear

thats deffo well bent they are only made of thin wall tube so it should bend back quite easy but will be even weaker than normal now but it will be fine once straight if you weld some angle iron along it

Oh yes it's bent, exactly the same way as my friends went. We took it out and straightened it then welded a a bit of steel box section to it. Was grand and it drives 100% now.
