Help with oil leak was created by NewToJimny
Hi there, I've just bought a 51 plate DOHC Jimny and have noticed that the drivers side seal around the cv joint is leaking (see pic) I've done a bit of research and I'm thinking it needs a new seal, bearings and kingpin? Just wondered if anyone could confirm. I'm hoping to get a garage to do it so would like to ask for the right thing. Would anyone know how much the work should cost at a garage?

Cheers in advance for your help

Nick

Hi there,
I'm no mechanic but like a go at fixing my own cars to save a few quid. iv done both front king pins now very simple job with basic tools . Martin has done a very good straight forward stage By stage guide with full colour pictures on how to change the king pin bearings and inner oil seal . I would buy the parts off this site and I should think it would take a garage around 1 hour labor so probably about £60 if you supply the parts.

Thanks
james

Thanks for your replies. Thinking I might have a crack at it myself. I've had a look through the guide and it looks like something I could tackle. I'm in Todmorden in west Yorkshire.
